I have self harmed and i want a tattoo to cover up the scars?

they are red and some of them are thick would this be a problemI have self harmed and i want a tattoo to cover up the scars?
It could stand to be a problem. Scar tissue is not the same as regular tissue. Once the ink hits the scar, there is a possiblity of the ink spreading out, instead of staying in a fine line it could possibly become a blotch. Your best bet is to discuss this with a tattoo artist and have them check out your scars...but if they are thick and raised, it probably wouldnt be the best option. HOWEVER, you could discuss it with an artist and they could design a tattoo around your scars to make them appear more visually appealing. Or you could always have them lasered off.I have self harmed and i want a tattoo to cover up the scars?
it really depends on how bad the scarring is. if they are pale and not to raised it should be fine, but if they are really high it could either draw more attention to them, or not even take the ink correctly. also, if the scars are still red you should wait until the color goes away, that could be a couple of months or a couple of years.

if the tattoo artist is decent he/she should be able to work with the scars or tell you if it just won't work.
i have scars from the same thing on my wrists

and im looking for a nice tattoo to cover them up

for my 16th birthday im getting sparrows

over them it means like freedom

and its like im free from that period in my life that

was so dark and awful

I hope that you find what means

something special to you

they should be able to cover them for you

maybe try and lighten them now and then

talk to them about it

good luck
the advice given to me was to wait until the scars are no longer red/pink. I used mederma and vitamin E oil to help reduce the scarring. It's taken a while but it's so worth it. I will be covering my scars in a few months now- it's been about 18 mos since I got them... I was told the bigger (more raised up) and pinker the scars are the more difficult it will be to tattoo over and the harder it will be to heal properly... just go see a good professional in your area- they will know better when they see the actual scars- and they'll let ya know if you need to wait...
My cousin did that, and you could still see the raised skin, so it ended up only drawing more attention to the scars.

Still, if you're getting a tattoo anyway, go and scope out the place... ask them the same question, and they may be able to give you more info or show you samples.

(check out an image search online too to see samples of tattoos that cover scars).
You'll have to ask your tattoo artist, they may not be able to go over scars.

But if they're red then they should fade over time. You could also use mederma to minimize the appearance of your scars.

I hope you are better now!
A woman who self harmed was on an episode of Miami Ink and they did a tattoo for her. I don't know if you've seen it. Maybe you could watch it on the internet somewhere?
Erm if they're scars then scar tissue is very soft so they might not be willing to tattoo over it, but then again they might, ask them. Also the tattoo wouldn't look so good but... up to you.
wait until the scaring fades a bit before getting them tat ed over there will be no probs if you do it that way some of your scares are to fresh
Sometimes they can't tattoo over raised scars.
SOME TATTO SHOPS wont tattoo over scar tissue
I read an article where Shia le Beuf got a banner tattoo with the date of his ';new'; life. When the healing begins....
No, just get a really dark tattoo.
self harmed? does this mean that you purposely cut ur self? any way yea they shud be able to tat over it
maybe you shouldn't be a nuts case, Edward scissor hands
