Can scars go away by themselves?

I have this scar on my arm, because I cut it (this was around Sept. last year, and I haven't cut myself since then). And it's starting to disappear. But I have this other scar because I fell on a lego when I was 4, but it's still there.Can scars go away by themselves?

Your skin has been stretched since you were four because you grew. So that scar stayed. It may go away if you lose a significant amount of weight. Scars that you get when you're older are more likely to go away.
I've got scars on my arm when I cut myself a few times when I was 14-16, and they're still there now (I'm 28). They're nowhere near as obvious as they were though.
