Is there such an insect that lays eggs in your skin and leaves scars?

There are, but they are relatively rare, and generally restricted to the tropics. Flies like the human screw-worm (Cochliomyia hominivorax) can indeed inject eggs into human flesh, and leave a small scar when they do so.

In North America, though, it very, very rarely ever happens. Far more common is the psychosomatic effects of drugs such as methamphetamine - which can create an itching sensation, and then the victim enlarges the scar themselves trying to dig out the ';insect';.Is there such an insect that lays eggs in your skin and leaves scars?
yep, quite a few. most will lay larvae, or lay eggs on the skin which rapidly hatch fromt he warmtha dn burrow under/into the skin.

bot fly for example.

UK, has horse fly,

the female horse fly catches a normal fly, lays it's eggs onto it, and then when that fly sits on somethink, usually a cow, the eggs hatch from the warmth and the larvea burrow into the skin. they lay them on the normal fly first because they are huge and heavy, and anythink they sit on would feel them.Is there such an insect that lays eggs in your skin and leaves scars?
